As a volunteer, it’s important to be active about your ongoing learning. And think of the volunteer induction as a continuing education programme which should compliment, as we said, your specific site orientation. It demonstrates the range of fundamental policies and practises and best practise concepts that underpin your volunteer role.
We also explore your responsibilities to the organisation and to the personnel, that’s either staff, or clients, or other volunteers. We’ll talk about the responsibility the organisation has to you as a volunteer, and provide you with an understanding of why these topics are included in your induction process, or why an organisation may have a specific policy about that.
Depending on your existing knowledge and experience, you might find that some of the topics are very familiar to you, but there might be others that are new. And if there’s anything you’d like help with as you’re going through the eCourse, or you have suggestions or feedback, please feel free to let us know in the discussion lessons throughout the eCourse. In this eCourse, we’re going to cover the topics that may be covered in a volunteer induction or a volunteer site orientation. Specific policies that might be relevant, your motivation as a volunteer, and what you have to contribute. And we’ll explain any specific terminology as we go through the course. You may also see some activities and quizzes along the way. Just remember, if it is a certificate quiz, you will need to complete that to obtain your certificate.
